Challenge
Småtrollen, a parent cooperative, faced a digitalization challenge. While their website primarily conveyed practical information, they realized an update was necessary. To rely solely on reputation and recommendations was no longer sufficient. The time had come for a transformation.
In today's digital landscape, a website's usability is crucial for long-term success. By addressing Småtrollen's UX design challenges, we aimed not only to transform their digital presence but also to ensure its lasting impact.

Planning
This project, completed within a two-week sprint, focused on delivering a Minimum Viable Product (MVP). The primary client goal was clear message delivery and simplicity. The aim was to create a minimalistic, user-friendly site that conveyed a sense of safety.
We emphasized Småtrollen's warmth and environmental focus, prioritizing image-driven, child-friendly design.
Recognizing users' limited attention span (10-20 seconds), we aimed for efficient communication, replacing lengthy text with simplicity and visuals.
Given the project's brevity, we conducted a heuristic evaluation to identify and address user interface issues effectively.
Design system
Our tools included client requirements, examples, and an inspiration in colors. This led us to create a design system. We chose to work with a Bootstrap UI kit, streamlining the development process and ensuring consistency.
We selected colors based on their associations; green and brown for environment and reliability, beige for a friendly neutrality, and a warm greyish black. All colors adhered to contrast guidelines.
Inspired by competitors who effectively used pictures and text, we integrated images naturally and descriptively.
Learnings
In our client presentation, we aimed to ensure Småtrollen understood our approach and reasoning. We avoided diving too deep into technical details, focusing on clarity and education.
Creating a site meeting requirements within a short sprint was a valuable learning experience. It required time management, prioritization, adaptability, and understanding the importance of "why."
While usability tests would have added depth to the site, they were time-consuming for this project. The ability to be flexible and focus on the primary goals proved invaluable.
The project benefited from a diverse team, which enhanced efficiency and balance.
